Devious Journal Entry

Wed Jul 8, 2009, 3:55 AM
  • Mood: Triumph
  • Watching: One Piece
  • Playing: Soul Calibre IV
  • Eating: Ice Cream!
I really haven't updated my journal for a little while, now. I used to do it monthly, but I'm running out of things to update on.

MCM EXPO

The May MCM Expo went very well, despite busting an incredible amount just getting down there and spending the weekend there... not forgetting what I did actually purchase. I did spot the Portrait of Pirates Lucci figure there, which I've been wanting, but it was too expensive for my funds due to how much I spent beforehand. Still, it was an awesome expo full of actual One Piece cosplayers of fun (previous expos seemed to have little to none, in comparison) and less Naruto cosplayers than usual (although just as many Bleach). Besides purchasing a mini Mr. Popo, thanks to DBZ: Abridged, I managed to find myself on the new One Piece Wii game: Unlimited Cruise (1) for a nice amount of time, beating up enemies with the Gum Gum Gattling and in particular Bartholomew Kuma with a bit of irritation. I love how you can play as any of the Strawhat pirates up to the end of the Thriller Bark arc and level them up to learn new skills. Just makes me want a Wii even more, really. I also saw some really awesome Final Fantasy IX cosplays, there, in particular a couple of Kujas. I think a Trance Kuja ended up winning one of the cosplay masquerades, too. =D

University

I've finished University for the year, now... so that's one year down! I passed, of course, with a high 2:1, which everyone seemed to have also obtained (a B grade, really). I'm kind of annoyed, since my first semester (half of the year) work was mediocre despite my toughest efforts, yet my second semester work was pretty good, even though the effort was about the same. I think it honestly depends on who's marking, just like what happened with my A2 Level English papers. The comparison of grade I received on one paper after paying to have it remarked was pretty phenominal. I'm going to miss the gals I'll be living with for this Sepetember coming and next year, though. Sure, I felt a little left out of their activities towards the end of the year, but it doesn't mean I'll miss them. The house goes by the title 'House of Feck' after our FECCLES drama group and almost all of us being in that group. I have a nice list of books to buy for this term, coming, but I can't do so until I actually obtain a job for the summer. Easier said than done, as always. I'm also far behind on my last term accommodation payment, since it was too expensive for my loan in the first place. I don't know how that will play out, right now...

End and Final Fantopoly

That's about it from me. I'm back for the summer, now, and I've been bouncing back and fourth between my friends, planning on finishing our film project 'Eternal' and a Monopoly set with Final Fantasy attributes in. 'Final Fantopoly' has been coming along well... we managed to print out GIL notes, the deed cards which include Baron, Midgar, Luca and more, and right now we are sorting out the stuff for the board. At least we managed to purchase a cheap but mint condition Monopoly set to customise from a good ol' British Car Boot Sale. See you guys in the near future! Maybe then I'll actually upload something else. xD

*Watches your DA* Howdy! I'm doing fine, thanks. Just cooped up in Uni and waiting for my first year results, still. Still, the weather's been great (as have the beaches, down here). Hattori's having a good time, too. xD Hope you're doing well, you Sanji person, you.

I wasn't aware it was your other account, that I commented on. I was searching for One Piece May Expo photos. It's a small world, after all!

You're a first year? Ooh! Fun times, what are you studying? *is nosey* Glad to hear Hatori's doing well, send him my regards :D I'm doing well thanks, pretty busy though trying to get as much done as possible before scooting off to America for two weeks! Going to be a manic contrast going from rainy old Manchester to scorching Florida weather. It really is a small world on the internet, always nice to bump into fellow cosplayers!

Down in Falmouth it's been very sunny and very hot. >.< It was okay, at first, but it lasted a good week and a half. Pure heat. Today it finally rained. =D I guess Manchester hasn't had as much sun... but enjoy Florida!

I am a first year, yes. I study (BA Hons) English with Creative Writing at University College Falmouth. It's an okay course - it combines all of that nasty English stuff you tend to get, like English history, language, literature and such, with lots of creative writing aspects. I love writing and creative writing was what I wanted to do. I didn't think it would be very credible to the job world on its own, after, so I took a joint English course with it. Falmouth is pretty far away from home, though, so I can only go back during the end of term. I sacrificed a lot of money coming to the May Expo (hence why I had so little whilst there).

I hear that mate- Manchester isn't exactly a stone's throw away from South Wales, but it's worth it- studying animation is one of the best moves I've ever made. Okay so the course has quite a few flaws and the organisation is dire, but it's what you make of it that counts and the guys I live with are just epic win XD Your course sounds really interesting! Creative writing was one of my favourite subjects but I wasn't really good at it- I can do the coming up with ideas but I'm not that good at putting them on paper. I hadn't much to spend either what with the America trip coming up (woo! Saturday!), but I really go to meet the people :D
